I know I know, we all love and hate AI in equal measures. It is the digital equivalent to Marmite, but if I see another ai logo or flyer looking the same I am going to puke!š¤®.
AI can churn out some unbelievable tripe but in the right hands can be an absolute time saver for the mundane tasks we all hate, and that’s its real strength. Don’t ask it to think laterally or creatively as it can’t, it can only do a mime of it – and everyone hates mime!
Nothing sums up the slow collapse of modern marketing quite like sitting on a delayed Thameslink train, opening Insta, and being hypnotised by an AI-generated āinfluencer.ā You know the type, perfect, pore-less tanned skin, a Turkish-toothed smile and its dead, algorithmic shark eyes, not to mention the voice that sounds like a 90’s SatNav trying to direct you towards the nearest cliff. He/She/It, stands there or walks towards you like it’s in a Verve video, a digital ring-light and the honesty of a cult leader, telling you to buy an AI tool so you can automate your own marketing. Itās the ultimate snake eating its own tailāand then gagging on the outcome, I have to reach for the Alkaseltzer again. Churning out more of this synthetic visual crap, an already exhausted consumers who are only one more doom scroll away from doing a Reggie Perrin and walking into the sea.
Your entire business marketing strategy lies with a ghost, convincing you to spam the internet with more machine-generated drivel, the tail hasnāt just wagged this dogāitās bitten the bloody hand that feeds it and declared itself Managing Director so don’t be shocked when you get called in and told “you are no longer required”.
People aren’t stupid, we can all spot the uncanny before we’ve even finished the mornings movements. The second a future client realises theyāre looking at a matrix-mannequin giving a ChatGPT speech, any lingering shred of brand trust disappears into the atmosphere with the memory of whatever they were saying. You haven’t built a forward-thinking marketing strategy, you’re just running a dark digital puppet show for an empty room.
Use me, use someone else, I don’t care! but there are loads of really talented human beings out there still creating some stunning and really engaging art. It may cost a bit more than FREE but then there is no such thing as a free lunch and these Free-bots have already cost you dearly.
RANT over and that feels better𤣠. Start the next revolution people and use a real person for your next marketing campaign, I bet it will make a difference and put a smile on both your faces.
